Who doesn't recognize the ancient sacred site of Stonehenge, a World Heritage Site. The photos above are mine. Those close-ups to the right are Linda's Although the sun was bright, the wind was constant and bitter across Salisbury Plain, the site of these magnificent standing stones.

After a short walk along the Salisbury River from the large municipal parking lot, we saw the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral.

A detail from the cathedral's spire.

Shown above is the high altar. Almost every turn in the cathedral disclosed a beautiful stained glass window or vaulted ceilings.

The world's oldest clock, built in 1386, still works but is no longer used to ring the hours.

The cloisters is a classic collection of arched openings around a large lawn.

Though it was mid-winter, and the branches were bare, this bush was covered in brilliant red flowers.

I gave up trying to identify this duck, possibly of mixed parentage, and we followed this flotilla of swans back to the car.
