Though not previously big fans of German white wines we get in U.S., they tasted fantastic here |

Jack headed for the beers ... |

... and found several he liked ... |

...but the Erdinger Dunkel was his favorite |

A Rudesheimer cafe', made with Asbach Uralt brandy from just down the Rhine, made a nice dessert. |
 |

Our first night, we wandered down the touristic "main street" and couldn't resist have a brat and a schnitzel with Elvis. And some dessert "mit schlag" |
 |

Most nights we adjourned to the delightful patio dining at Am Markt hotel, where we enjoyed a lot of local specialties. |

The Sauerbraten, however, was not our favorite. |
On our outing to Bachrach, we indulged in a wine tasting. |
 |

On a trip to Rudesheim, we joined all the other tourists and stopped for lunch on the narrow Drosselgasse |

It was one of our favorite meals. Mary tried a platter of cured wild meats, such a boar and harte. |

Jack liked the Pfälzer Saumagen, a pork and potato sausage in a sow's stomach. Quite a tasty dish.
|

And, a local wasp gorged on the little bit Jack left. |
